Travel Review | W Hotel Melbourne

Our stay at the W Hotel Melbourne was a mix of luxury touches and familiar quirks we’ve come to expect. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly with a glass of bubbles, which immediately set a celebratory tone. The check-in process was smooth, and the staff were genuinely lovely throughout our stay, always happy to answer questions or offer recommendations. Customer service like this makes a big difference when you’re traveling.

The room itself was comfortable and well-appointed. The bed was soft and cozy, just how we like it, and we slept soundly throughout our stay. Storage was adequate, and the design had that modern W Hotel flair — stylish but functional. On the downside, the water pressure in the shower was underwhelming, which has been a recurring issue for us at luxury hotels.

Location-wise, the hotel is fantastic. It’s close to a wide variety of restaurants, including a few owned by the hotel itself. Having so many options within walking distance made planning meals easy, whether we wanted a quick bite or a more indulgent dinner. It’s a great spot if you want to explore the city on foot and enjoy Melbourne’s vibrant dining scene.

The pool area was one of the highlights for us, though it did not quite match the grand impression given in the photos. Inside, the pool is still lovely — spacious enough to swim comfortably, and the 24/7 opening hours are a definite plus. We appreciated that they enforce a no-kids policy after 7 pm, which helps keep it calm and relaxing during the evening. While not enormous, and doesn't really have much of a view, it is a nice place to unwind, especially if you’re looking for a quieter swim at night.

The photos make the pool look incredible and one of our main reasons for booking. In reality, it's nice but not mind-blowing. That white wave looking thing that features in photos isn't a sofa like I assumed but rather a DJ boot that wasn't occupied the entire time we were there.

In terms of value, we felt the hotel delivers a solid experience but may not fully justify the premium cost. The luxury touches, central location, and attentive service make it enjoyable, but the cost outweighs the experience.

Overall, we enjoyed our time at W Hotel Melbourne. It’s a stylish and comfortable base for exploring the city, especially if you appreciate modern design, attentive staff, and easy access to Melbourne’s dining scene. If you’re looking for a hotel experience that combines central convenience with a touch of luxury, this is worth considering, though we would weigh whether the added cost is right for your trip.
